LAFC recently said goodbye to their top scorer this season, and their other top scorer has been hurt the past few games, but another player, Cristian Arango, has stepped into the breach. On Monday, the forward was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 24 of the 2021 regular season.
Arango scored LAFC’s first two goals in a 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday in Los Angeles. Arango’s first goal was the fastest scored in club history, just 20 seconds and basically right from kickoff.

He then followed it up with a header off an Eduard Atuesta cross 30 minutes in.

The brace was Arango’s first in MLS play, and he now has a three-game scoring streak with LAFC. All told, he now has four goals in six appearances since his transfer from Millonarios in the summer transfer window. He sits just two goals behind 2021’s leading scorer for LAFC, the departed Diego Rossi.
Congratulations to Chicho on the honor, and long may the vein of form continue for him and the team.
