LAFC announced on Tuesday they have signed midfielder Michee Ngalina on loan for the rest of the 2021 season. The Congolese midfielder has enjoyed an extremely fruitful spell with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. As part of the deal, LAFC sent the Colorado Rapids $50,000 in general allocation money through 2022 for his MLS rights, and also sent $50,000 in GAM to the Vancouver Whitecaps through 2022 for a 2021 international roster slot
In 21 appearances for the club in 2021, Ngalina has emerged as one of the critical pieces for the Switchbacks’ attack, sitting top two on the team in goals scored, assists, shots, and chances created. The midfielder has netted eight goals with eight assists in 2021. Some of you may remember the name, as the 21-year-old was once a member of the Philadelphia Union, coming up through their ranks back in 2019, before being sent on loan to the MLS side’s USL team, Bethlehem Steel.
While labeled as a midfielder, the speedy attacker has also seen success as a wide option in an attacking front three. With Diego Rossi in the rearview for LAFC, Ngalina potentially fills the role of speedy winger, with clinical finishing, within the squad. With the playoff push in full swing for the black-and-gold, this is definitely a move that could provide even more firepower for a team looking to turn things around.
